The Wyoming Valley West’s golf team has won three matches this season.
At the first match, Valley West beat Nanticoke 222-200 on August 24th at Edgewood. Valley West beat Pittston Area 185-177 on August 31st at Irem Temple. Lastly, Valley West beat Nanticoke 196-174 on September 12th at Irem Temple.
Sam Saporito, a junior on the golf team, says that he thinks these matches were important because “we didn’t win at all last season so this season we are trying to improve and win some matches.”
Mr. Hettes, coach, says these games were meaningful because “they were a reflection of the great improvements that the players were working on this season.” Hettes also says that this season has been a reflection of the hard work and progress that the team has made. Hettes says that two of his star players are the captains, Danny Polachek and Jakob Razvillas.
Danny says that he joined the golf team because “it started out as a fun activity to do in the summer and once I kept getting better and better I started to join random tournaments with kids that go to school all around and I was always placing top 5 in them so I decided to play for the team.”
Coach Kuscavage said that the team worked on “getting better with all of our shots and course management” to get them to these victories.
