Rita’s VS Josie’s Italian ice

With Summer approaching, people are beginning to come out of hibernation to enjoy a sweet treat from their local ice creamery, such as a Rita’s or Josie’s Italian Ice shop.

Josie’s and Rita’s aren’t just Italian ice shops, both places offer beyond just flavored shaved ice. There’s sugar free ice, frozen custard, gelatis, sundaes, mistos, blendinis, milkshakes, frozen custard cakes, and frozen drinks that you can get in endless amounts of flavors with a wide variety of toppings.

Although both business are very similar, taste very good, and serve all natural Italian ice, one of the two is definitely the Supreme being. For me, it’s team Josie’s all the way, the reasons for why Josie’s is greater than Rita’s aren’t that wide of a difference but they definitely do make a substantial difference from a customer’s perspective. Josie’s store front is more appealing and welcoming, they have tables and benches that you can sit at that even have an umbrella overhead to keep your cold desert from melting and your visit more enjoyable in the shade.

Rita’s has 2 benches. Where are you supposed to put your messy sundae consisting of 4 scoops of custard, sprinkles, whipped cream, hot fudge and the cherry that you end up throwing away anyways? Most people don’t enjoy having no option but to be cramped up in their car, not being able to enjoy their custard because the only thing on their mind is the everlasting fear of getting a mess on their clothing or tan cotton seat covers.

The service provided at Josie’s is more sufficient and the lines move at a good pace in an orderly fashion and they give you time to make your final decisions. Rita’s employees are usually rushing and their only desire is to keep the line moving.

Every time I go to Rita’s or Josie’s I order the same thing, a swedish fish gelati with vanilla custard. Josie’s sticks a swedish fish on top of the vanilla swirl… Rita’s does not.
