A NIGHT TO REMEMBER: SPARTAN HOMECOMING
November 8, 2021
On October 22nd, WVW held their homecoming night. Prior to announcing the court and watching the game, there was a parade that started at the central office and ended at the stadium. In the parade were our WVW cheerleaders, the band, many students and teachers holding banners for different clubs, and the homecoming court were driven in cars. “I love the parade. I think it’s a cool way to bring the Wyoming Valley West community together for homecoming night and to celebrate the homecoming court,” said Freddy DiCrecio.
The 2021 Homecoming Court consisted of Gwendolyn Langley, Aiden Golightley, Sabrina Bazadona, Brian Gill, Annabelle Wojciechowski, Quadel Glaster, Lily Latimer, Kenneth Brown, Laila Footman, and Liam Frace. Each duo walked onto the field while their names were being called. First, they announced the runner-ups for Mr and Miss Sparta, Gwen Langley and Brian Gill! As everyone’s anticipation grew stronger, it was time to announce 2021 Mr and Miss Sparta. Crowned were Aiden Golightley and Annabelle Wojciechowski!!!
Interview with Miss Sparta, Annabelle Wojciechowski:
Q: “What were you feeling when you heard your name announced for Mr/Miss Sparta?”
A: “I was in absolute shock, I couldn’t believe that I won but I was so excited.”
Q: “Aside from being crowned Miss Sparta, what was your favorite part of homecoming night?”
A: “My favorite part was seeing my best friend, Gwen Langley, win runner up.”
Interview with Mr. Sparta, Aiden Golightley:
Q: “What were you feeling when you heard your name announced for Mr Sparta?”
A: “Well at first I didn’t know we were doing a runner up type thing so I initially thought I lost. But when I heard them say the second Ms. Sparta I had hope. I was looking around and everyone was looking at me saying, “it’s you you got this.” I was so happy I was able to get it and share that gift with my friends and family.”
Q: “Aside from winning Mr. Sparta, what was your favorite part of homecoming night?”
A: “Homecoming night also happened to be my 18th birthday, truthfully other than that I had anxiety about the game and the vote.”
