Friday Night Football Games: A Play By Play

Friday+Night+Football+Games%3A+A+Play+By+Play

Friday night football games with the Spartans have been an exciting event for the students and alumni for many years, but there’s more to them than meets the eye. Whether you regularly attend the games or  you’re someone considering their first game, let’s take a closer look at what goes on during these exciting evenings.

This year, the Spartans’ marching band presents their pregame show titled “Elements.” The students had true dedication to their show by spending a little over a quarter of their summer perfecting their show. To witness their talent and dedication, plan to arrive at the stadium at 6:30 p.m. Make sure you don’t miss it!

After the show, the game begins with the kickoff. To best support our players, immerse yourself in the exciting atmosphere of the student section, complete with unique themes for each game night. Embracing these themes adds to the fun. If you’re unsure about the night’s theme, feel free to ask students or section leaders prior to the game. Remember, there are guidelines for the student section, which you can find on the Student Council’s Instagram page under the first post on the account. But beyond the rules, you can also participate in cheering and chanting events like the iconic Spartan Rumble. The band adds to the excitement by playing music throughout the game.

After two exhilarating quarters, halftime arrives. During this break, you can choose between two options: enjoy the performance of the opposing school’s marching band or indulge in delicious stadium snacks. Beneath the bleachers, a variety of foods awaits you, and you can further support our band by purchasing lollipops on the opposite side of the scoreboard. Plus, there’s a stand where you can grab some apparel for that night’s game.

Following the halftime activities, two more quarters are played, and the game wraps up with the alma mater played by the marching band.

Curious about away games? You’re in luck! The experience is very similar, with the only difference being that the marching band performs during halftime instead of before the game. Apart from that, you can expect the same exciting atmosphere.

Now that you know what unfolds during these games, you’re well-prepared to show your support for the Spartans’ football team, win or lose. Enjoy the spirited and unforgettable experience of Friday night football with the Spartans!
