Beyoncé has been crowned a queen by the world, but for some, her influence goes far beyond the music realm. The TikTok trend that began when JoJo Siwa expressed her gratitude towards Beyoncé sparked curiosity around the world. What do JoJo Siwa, Adele, Kelsea Ballerini, Kanye West, and Taylor Swift have in common when it comes to praising Beyoncé?
One explanation is a conspiracy theory that circulated on TikTok: If someone doesn’t thank Beyoncé, it could lead to bad luck in their career. People believe that thanking her can protect them from her supposed “wrath.” JoJo Siwa sparked interest in the idea of thanking Beyoncé during her acceptance speech at the Industry Dance Awards. Is Beyoncé’s success — like winning 9 Grammys this year — due to her talent alone, or is there something else at play? JoJo Siwa stated, “And also, I have to say thank you to Beyoncé, just so that way we can keep the dance community safe.”
The idea of thanking Beyoncé dates back to the infamous moment at the 2009 MTV VMAs when Taylor Swift was interrupted by Kanye West as she accepted her award.
Taylor Swift stated, “So thank you so much for giving me a chance to win a VMA award I—” Just as she was about to finish, Kanye West interrupted her and said, “Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’ma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time — one of the best videos of all time!”
Why did Kanye interrupt Taylor just to praise Beyoncé? It simply does not make sense, or was it perhaps to protect Taylor from Beyoncé’s “malicious wrath”? Years later, this appreciation resurfaced when Adele honored Beyoncé during her acceptance speech at the Grammys.
Adele stated, “But I can’t possibly accept this award, and I’m very humbled and very grateful and gracious, but my artist of my life is Beyoncé, and this album for me, the Lemonade album, was just so monumental. Beyoncé is so monumental, so well thought-out, and so beautiful and so bearing. We all got to see another side of you that we don’t always get to see, and we appreciate that. All of us artists today, we adore you. You are our light.”
The most recent praise for Beyoncé came from singer Kelsea Ballerini in October at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards, where she allegedly stated that Beyoncé had changed the country music industry. This statement surprised many fans, as Beyoncé had just released an album earlier that year, which raised questions about why she was receiving such praise at a major award event.
“The fact that Beyoncé made a country record changed the game, so thank you,” Kelsea Ballerini said.
And just recently, famous singer Liam Payne “died” at a hotel that Beyoncé was in just two days before, (coincidence?) He passed away allegedly due to “substances,” but was it really substances, or something else? The public is going crazy over everything that has been said on social media. Everyone is diving into these conspiracies, such as the “444” conspiracy, or others claiming she has an evil spirit attached to her. Are these just silly conspiracies, or could they be true? It is up to you how you interpret them.
Lastly, we would just like to thank Beyoncé for the opportunity to write this article…
